Tera began training in tap and ballet at the age of 3 in Gainsville, TX. She continued her training locally for 12 years, 10 of the 12 were competitive. During her years as a young dancer she was cast 3 consecutive years as Clara in the Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas performance of the Nutcracker. Tera spent 2 summers training with the Boston Ballet Summer Intensive programs and is a level IV Cecchetti certified dancer. Tera is also the recipient of several LA Underground and Tremaine dance scholarships. While in high school she continued her training at local studios but also added in the ever popular role of becoming a cheerleader and then 2 years on Drill Team. Her Drill Team experiences took her to the UDA High School Nationals in Florida, where her team placed in top rankings for Jazz and Pom. Tera’s last year in high school presented her with the opportunity to perform in the Entertainment Department at Six Flags Over Texas. There she performed in shows such as “It’s Magic,” “Rock & Roll,” and “40th Anniversary Front Gate Spectacular”.
She has performed in various industrial shows for major companies such as Mary Kay and Pepsi. She also had the opportunity to perform in 2 of the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day Half-Time performances with artists Jessica Simpson and Creed. After high school she moved her focus towards earning a degree while teaching at local studios to pay her way through school. Her degree focus was on early education with the hopes of becoming a teacher in the public schools. But as dance continued to pull at her heart and current families and customers urged her to live out her dream; she completed her education at the University of North Texas with a BA in Sociology and then shortly opened the doors to The Dance Space in 2007. Tera is celebrating 9 years of doing what she loves with her husband Todd, 3 year old Tenley and new 4 month old Ty!!
Leanna is a Las Vegas native where she trained and graduated from the Las Vegas Performing Arts Academy. Leanna moved to New York at the age of 18 when she earned a full scholarship to train at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. During her fellowship at Ailey, she studied extensively under Denise Jefferson and Jaqulyn Buglisi. Leanna’s biggest credit goes to Tara Foy who solely trained Leanna in ballet since she was 11. Leanna has toured around the country with Tara Foy at West Coast Dance Explosion and is also a master class teacher at Tara Foy’s Elite Ballet Summer Intensive. Leanna is trained highly in ballet and contemporary dance, as well as, Jazz, Pilates, Yoga, and conditioning. Leanna is extremely artistic and uses choreography as her canvas for her art. She will make you laugh, cry, and always wanting more from her choreography. She is highly sought after for her choreography and private instruction.
As a performer, Leanna has appeared with the Ailey 2 Company in New York, in ‘Les Follies Berger’ as an acrobatic dancer in Las Vegas, in Paul Mitchell hair show conventions, and Golden Rainbow charity performances benefiting AIDS research. We are beyond excited to have Master Lucke at TDS. Since primary school, Lucke has shown a keen passion and talent for performing. Singing and dancing, specifically in musical theatre, were the first arts studied and performed from the age of 5 for this vivacious and energetic 26-year-old. He has performed throughout the continental United States and many countries abroad as both a musician and a dancer. Music was Lucke's first passion and it has been the foundation of his dance and educational career.
At the age of 16, Lucke began taking gymnastics classes in his spare time with the hope of gaining more understanding for the body and its full capabilities. An instant love and connection was made from day one. After competing for several years as an all-around gymnast and power tumbler, Lucke began teaching gymnastics to children varying from the age of 18 months to young adults. Since he began teaching 9 years ago, he has specialized in dance and acrobatic training for the Women's Artistic program for many teams throughout the DFW area.
Lucke is now a Junior at the University of North Texas in Denton seeking two Bachelor degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Kinesiology). He is also taking classes to minor in music. All of these disciplines are the build up for a career as a professional performer and choreographer.
Lucke lives life both personally and professionally with one thought always in mind: "Believe in yourself, hang onto yur dreams, keep trying no matter how hard it seems, and make it happen! With that, all things are possible. Belief is where it all starts."
Michelle first started teaching at The Dance Space as a long term substitute instructor for the studio owner in 2012. Her education background, personal dance experience and her large family of 7 enables her to bring a great balance of teacher, dancer and mother for the dancers in her classes. Michelle was trained at the Bonnie Lindholm School of Dance in the Chicago area for 13 years (10 of those heavily involved with their company program). Her absolute favorite discipline is tap, and she strives to pass along that passion to her dancers. She earned a Language Arts Degree and a secondary certification from Drake University in Des Moines, IA and married her high school sweetheart in 1996. Michelle and her husband live with their 5 kids in Flower Mound.
